In Back Up Your Data! (2022), I included instructions on how to use the MacOS Disk Utility to create an encrypted backup of your work in progress for uploading to a cloud server. It turns out that size limitations can crop up under mysterious circumstances when using Disk Utility. Different people report different or no size limitations. To get around this, use the MacOS zip command in a Terminal window as detailed in this post by BeldarConehead (my cone-headed Apple alter-ego) on the Apple Support Communities.
In the latest edition of Back Up Your Data! (2025), I’ve incorporated the zip command into a sophisticated scatter hoarding algorithm in a set of bonus scripts you can run with just a few keystrokes from the command line in any terminal window once you complete the setup instructions in the included README file.

Thanks for another great post.
It’s what I live for!
