How Can I Market My eBook?
Near the end of Publish Your eBook!, I describe the foundation to lay for your marketing activities, which includes what was called a purchase funnel when the concept was first recorded in the 19th Century and is now more commonly known as a sales funnel, or just funnel in the vernacular. At the hub of this funnel is your author website such as the WordPress website you’re browsing now, which starts right here at Epub Guru. To get an author website up and running quickly, you can start with Author Websites by BookBub, such as the one I built at author.ePubGuru.com. Here is a good discussion of the pros and cons of WordPress vs. Author Websites by BookBub.
How Can I Protect My Hard Work from Data Loss?
This is the one that brings down many an aspiring author in no time flat. We seldom hear about data loss events for the same reason we seldom hear about gambling losses in Las Vegas. The victims in both cases just don’t want to talk about it. Avert that catastrophe just waiting to happen by acting on the guidance in Back Up Your Data!
How does affiliate marketing relate to eBook authoring and publishing?
Affiliate marketing, an activity that authors formerly relied upon traditional publishers to perform, is the process of finding, building and warming up a market — a following or readership in the case of books — into which new books are launched. It’s like placing an ad for a new book on dog grooming in a magazine about dog grooming. Traditional publishers didn’t just print and distribute books and hope for the best. They built up anticipation and demand at book fairs, in print advertising, with radio and television interviews, at book signing events and with eye-catching bookstore window displays. All that’s your job now, in case you were wondering why some of your books haven’t been selling as well as you thought they would. The good news is that the tools at your fingertips today are vastly superior to those used by traditional publishers in the Dark Ages of the publishing industry before the advent of the Internet changed everything.
